safety features

SafeLink®
Our patented digital SafeLink® FM technology provides the maximum protection against false activation caused by stray radio signals. FM technology is less prone to interference than the AM systems used by other brands, and that makes DogWatch the most secure hidden fence available.

FastReact®
DogWatch has the fastest reaction time in the industry. If your dog runs at the boundary, the receiver reacts with the warning signal before he reaches the wire, not while he is traveling over it.

Small package. Outstanding Performance.

collar features

Longest Battery Life
All DogWatch Hidden Fence collars have a longer battery life than other brands. The R12 collar has a battery life of up to 2 years and our R12mini has a 6-month battery. Other brands usually need a new battery every 3-4 months. Fewer batteries are good for your wallet and better for the environment. And, most importantly, safer for your pet!

Receiver Status Light
The unique multi-function status light on the receiver lets you know if the battery is low or needs to be replaced.

Audible Warning Alert
The DogWatch 1200Fence includes an audible warning signal to alert your dog that he is approaching the boundary. Your pet quickly learns to stop at the warning signal – before he reaches the hidden wire.

GentleFit™ Contact Posts
Optional GentleFit™ Contact Posts are easy on your dog’s skin. They are smooth like our standard stainless steel contact posts to minimize friction and low profile for a comfortable Pet-Friendly™ fit.

High Impact, Waterproof
The DogWatch R12 and R12mini receivers are tested to withstand the harsh outdoor elements of rain, sleet and snow, as well as rigorous play!

The most advanced technology and the easiest to use.

transmitter features

Lightning Protection
DogWatch Hidden Fences include the very best lightning/surge protection available as a standard feature. External protection directs power surges and lightning away from your home; internal protection suppresses surges coming in through your house wiring.

Range Setting
You can easily adjust the width of the signal (the ‘signal range’) on your 1200Fence to meet the needs of your pet and the size of your yard. If there is a wire break, there is also a warning alarm that alerts you to check the system. This is an invaluable safety feature for underground fences.

Designed with both you and your pet in mind.

owner-friendly features

Flexible Training Levels
The 1200Fence receiver collar includes four easy-to-understand and adjustable training levels plus an ‘audible only’ feature, designed to ensure safe and appropriate training and containment for pets of all ages, sizes, breeds, and personalities.

Proven Training Program
All DogWatch Dealers provide on-site training using our trusted and effective PetFriendly™ training program that includes visual recognition of boundary flags, learning to retreat from the audible warning signal and learning that there is an unpleasant sensation if they cross the boundary.

Flexible, Affordable Containment Areas
Over the river and through the woods? Backyard only . . . but not the pool and flower garden? Create a swimming area in the lake? We can do that! A hidden fence is more flexible and less expensive than a traditional fence. And your dog can’t jump over, dig under or chew through a hidden fence!

Works for Cats (and more!)
All DogWatch products are effective for cats, too! Create an invisible boundary that keeps your cat in your yard and out of the kids' sandbox. You can also create an indoor cat fence to keep kitty off the kitchen counter, away from your new sofa and out of the baby's room. And you can use the system for cat containment and dog containment at the same time! Also works for other pets including pigs, goats, sheep and more! Read more.

Lifetime Equipment Warranty
Our Hidden Fence products are built to last. We offer a no-nonsense Lifetime Limited Warranty on our Dealer installed hidden fences, including the 1200Fence.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We work hard to make sure DogWatch products are the best in the business. We back that up with a 30-day money-back guarantee on our equipment. We want to make sure your pet is safe and you are happy with your purchase!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Casey and Dogwatch have been more than accomodating, always quick to respond, and what a difference this fence has made in our lives! I was in love with it right away, the dogs - it took them a while, but they stay in the bounds of their acre yard and are able to have more freedom due to the electric underground fence. This past weekend our sprinkler service accidentally cut the wire. The dogs didn't know and carried on with their routine of habit - staying in the free zone of the yard. Even though it was the memorial day weekend he answered my plea for help almost immedicately. I hadn't expected it and didn't realize he had tried to get in touch with me until the next day. He was here very quickly and fixed it faster than I thought was possible. And he maintained that pleasant, calm attitude I associate with him. I can't recommend this business enough - the services and the pleasant attitude Casey always shows. Thank you to Casey and DogWatch!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve had my hidden fence for about 5 yrs now and its perfect for me and my fur babies. I’m outside everyday and my dogs can follow me around without fear of them
Leaving the yard. Casey and his dad installed my fence 5 yrs ago and until today I’ve never had a problem. My contractor sliced through the fence and I called Casey. He was able to fix the connection and did a complete assessment of the fence. He gave me Extra batteries so my fur babies will always have collars that work.. Thank you so much. 🐕‍🦺🦮

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tony installed our Dog Watch hidden fence when the GPS collars we had just didn't cut it. I had a large dog that did not respond at first to the hidden fence…ran through the fence line constantly. Tony came back and upgraded his collar to one with more prongs. This dog no longer runs through the fence line and has stopped chasing cars. We have two other dogs that responded to the fence immediately. Peace of mind knowing none of them run into the road or past our fence line anymore was worth the price of the fence 100%. Highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have had an electric dog fence from Dog Watch since March 2022 we live on a large piece of property and have had no trouble with dogs crossing the line. We called for a repair and the service was great he found the break where a gopher chewed through the wire and had it back and running in no time. I highly recommended Dog Watch of Boise for not only a great product but also great service

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. **Amazing product and service! ** We found out about Dog Watch 10 years ago. We lived on 5 acres and decided to get two husky’s. We found out Husky’s are quite the escape artist. We invested in dog watch and it was worth every penny! Our dogs are a part of our family and keeping them safe is important. We had coyotes and other wildlife around our property , Dogwatch kept our dogs in the yard, they never broke the line. We moved to Idaho and reached out to Casey and he got us all set up for the older dogs. Now we have new husky pup. Casey came over, set her all up and she is doing great. Casey has great customer service skills and you can tell he love dogs. We will never go with another product .

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just moved into our new home and my dog quickly escaped into the neighbors yard, which happened to be Casey’s, the owner of DogWatch Hidden Fences. We knew we needed to install a hidden fence to keep our pooches safe and meeting Casey felt like a clear sign. Casey did a wonderful job installing our fence and our dogs haven’t escaped yet. So grateful for his services!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t say enough about how much we love our dog fence!!! We live on an acreage and now our dog can roam within the boundaries we set! We can leave her outside and know she’ll be safe and home when we get back. Casey was easy to work with and very polite and professional! We’ve had our fence for a couple of years with no problems at all. I just called Casey because in the process of getting gophers out of our yard we inadvertently cut the wire 🤦🏻‍♀️. It just reminded me how much we love the fence!!!

Four years later and we’re still totally happy with our fence! I thought there was a problem as our dog started going outside her boundary so I called Casey and he did some trouble shooting with me over the phone. Turns out her collar just needed to be tightened a bit. I can’t say enough good things about the fence AND the customer service!

We had a great experience with Casey of Dog Watch of Idaho. We have an acreage and a sweet dog that likes to wander. Couldn’t be happier with the system installed. Casey came out the day after I called, showed up when he said he would, was polite, knowledgeable and took time to explain everything, answer our questions and made sure we knew how it would work to avoid any disappointment. We have peace of mind now when our dog goes outside. Beyond happy with the whole experience and the safety of our dog!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Casey did an outstanding job of planning exactly where the wire should go to cover the perimeter of our property. He don’t time with us to train Marley (our puggle) as well. I was skeptical at first that this would work, but Marley will attest to the fact that it’s awesome and she is now free to roam safely!!! Thank you so much!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hidden fence?
A hidden fence is an underground pet fencing system that uses a radio signal to keep your dog in a designated containment area, such as a yard; or out of an area, such as a swimming pool, patio, or garden. Hidden fences can also be used to create Indoor Boundaries that work inside your home to keep your pet off a couch, out of a room or away from a kitchen counter.
Hidden fences are often mistakenly referred to generically as “invisible fences”. Invisible Fence® is a brand name and Registered Trademark of the Invisible Fence Company.
How do hidden dog fences work?
Hidden fences are created by burying a ‘boundary wire’ a few inches underground around your property. The buried wire carries a harmless, low level radio signal from a transmitter installed in your house or garage. Your pet wears a lightweight, waterproof receiver collar that recognizes the radio signal. As your pet approaches the buried wire, the receiver collar emits an audible warning signal. If your pet travels further, he will receive a mild but safe stimulation (also called a “correction”) from the receiver collar. Through a training program, your pet learns to recognize his fence boundaries and learns to stop at the warning signal. Although there are differences in some of the product features, this is how all hidden fences work (DogWatch®, Invisible Fence® and other radio fence brands.)
With an indoor system, the hidden wire runs around your couch, under the lip of the counter, around the trash or across a doorway or wherever you need to create either a containment area or an “off-limits” area. We also have “wireless” indoor units that do not require placement of a boundary wire! Give us a call to discuss your options.
How does my dog learn where the hidden fence boundary is?
Training is an important part of the process. After we install the hidden fence, we work with you to train your pet. The training includes teaching your pet to recognize the containment area boundaries through a combination of voice commands, audible warning signals from the receiver collar and visual flags that are set in the yard where the pet hears the warning alert. With training, the dog remembers the placement of the flags and associates the flags with the warning signal. As your pet learns, the flags are slowly taken away. Your pet also learns that if he continues beyond the flags and warning alert, he will receive a mild correction (a stimulation from the collar). After training, most dogs do not cross the hidden boundary; they usually stop before the warning signal to avoid the correction.
We will initiate the training and provide instructions and support so you can complete and reinforce the training. After the initial training, your dog goes through a training session with you for a few minutes each day for about two weeks. We will develop a plan to meet the specific training needs of your pet(s).

Will the stimulation from a hidden dog fence collar hurt my dog?
No. The “stimulation” from the collar is unpleasant, but it will not “burn” or injure your pet. It is a sensation similar to the static shock you receive after walking across a carpet in your socks. It is uncomfortable, but it does not harm you.
How much do hidden fences cost?
The cost for a DogWatch Hidden Fence is almost always much less than traditional fencing. The cost varies based on which system is right for you, the number of pets, the size of the property, how many sidewalk and driveway cuts, if you want internal “garden loops”, etc. Contact us for a free consultation and an estimate for your property.
In addition to costing less than traditional fences, hidden fences provide more flexibility and more secure containment than traditional fences. For example, you can contain your dog in your yard, but keep him out of a pool area, garden or driveway gate. Plus, your dog cannot jump over, chew through or dig under a hidden fence. And hidden fences don’t need to be painted and don’t deteriorate like traditional fences.
There usually isn’t much difference in the cost of a DogWatch® fence and other Dealer installed brands (such as Invisible Fence®.) Retail brands may seem to cost less than the Dealer installed brands, but they do not include installation (which can be challenging), training (which is very important), ongoing support or a good Warranty program. Also, Dealer installed products tend to be better quality than retail brands.
